L. Ron Hubbard
Lafayette
Ronald Hubbard was born on 13th of March 1911 in Tilden, Nebraska. During
his childhood days he lived on a cattle ranch in Montana. From 14 to 18
years of age he travelled widely across Asia. He made contact with Chinese
and Indian monks and through them with Asian Philosophies.
And he started to explore the spiritual nature of the human being. When
he was 19 years of age he came back to America and started to study engineering
at the Washington University.
As part of these studies he participated in one of the first courses about
nuclear physics. He earned his living during this time at university,
and later, as a professional writer. He succeeded in his study of the
human mind and wrote an unpublished book.
During his youth he participated in various different expeditions. Some
of them as the expedition leader. During World War Two his spiritual studies
were interrupted. In 1944 he was ordered to the Philippines. In 1950 he
wrote "Dianetics - The Modern Science of Mental Health" a book
about the anatomy of the human mind in which he indicates precisely how
to handle traumatic experiences.
The Dianetics Research Foundation was founded for the purpose of researching
the human mind in more depth. Still Hubbard worked as a writer to finance
his studies. As a development of Dianetics, the term Scientology was created.
The concept of the research and its methods was for the advancement of
human abilities. Scientology had a boom time and in the course of the
years a worldwide organisation was formed. About cooperation with organisations
wanting to misuse Scientology - L. Ron Hubbard prohibited this strongly.
In 1966 he retreated from his official responsibilities to focus more
on his research activities. He assigned his previous responsibilities
and jobs to representatives. But the organisation he had founded was undermined
more and more as time went by.
The cause, and the year, of Hubbard´s death are still not proven.
Probably he died at the beginning of the eighties.
